Do you ever feel like your life is so busy that you can barely keep up? Or you have a constant feeling of needing to hurry even though you’re not late for anything. You, like many others, may be living at an unhealthy and unsustainable pace! When we live this way, our anxiety and stress increase, and our joy decreases. In this video, Sean Sears talks about how hurry impacts us and how slowing down can not only improve your mental and emotional health, but also your spiritual health.

MESSAGE NOTES

For most of our life, we think about the next thing that needs to be done while living in the actual thing that we’re doing. Because our minds /attention is on the next thing, this moment slips by without our full attention.

[Matthew 25:41-45]

“Then the King will turn to those on the left and say, ‘Away with you, you cursed ones, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his demons. 42 For I was hungry, and you didn’t feed me. I was thirsty, and you didn’t give me a drink. 43 I was a stranger, and you didn’t invite me into your home. I was naked, and you didn’t give me clothing. I was sick and in prison, and you didn’t visit me.’ 44 “Then they will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and not help you?’ 45 “And he will answer, ‘I tell you the truth, when you refused to help the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were refusing to help me.’”

A BUSY LIFE IS A BLINDED LIFE

  • Busy people don’t see hurting people
  • Busy people have shallow friendships and surface conversations
  • Busy people miss the opportunity to love and shepherd their kids

Corrie Ten Boom, “If the Devil can’t make you sin, he’ll make you busy!”

[Matthew 25:25]

And he will answer, I tell you the truth, when you refused to help the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were refusing to help me.”

A PRESENT LIFE IS A POTENT LIFE

[Mark 5:25-31, 34]

“25 A woman in the crowd had suffered for twelve years with constant bleeding. 26 She had suffered a great deal from many doctors, and over the years she had spent everything she had to pay them, but she had gotten no better. In fact, she had gotten worse. 27 She had heard about Jesus, so she came up behind him through the crowd and touched his robe. 28 For she thought to herself, “If I can just touch his robe, I will be healed.” 29 Immediately the bleeding stopped, and she could feel in her body that she had been healed of her terrible condition. 30 Jesus realized at once that healing power had gone out from him, so he turned around in the crowd and asked, “Who touched my robe?” 31 His disciples said to him, “Look at this crowd pressing around you. How can you ask, ‘Who touched me?’”… 34 And he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace. Your suffering is over.””

Your greatest moments in life will be the unplanned ones!

[Ecclesiastes 7:1-2]

“A good reputation is more valuable than costly perfume. And the day you die is better than the day you are born. Better to spend your time at funerals than at parties. After all, everyone dies— so the living should take this to heart.”

You aren’t guaranteed anything beyond this moment right here. THIS moment.
