“THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN EXPECTATIONS AND REALITY IS WHERE PATIENCE IS REQUIRED.”
James 5:7-9
Dear brothers and sisters,[a] be patient as you wait for the Lord’s return. Consider the farmers who patiently wait for the rains in the fall and in the spring. They eagerly look for the valuable harvest to ripen. 8 You, too, must be patient. Take courage, for the coming of the Lord is near.
9 Don’t grumble about each other, brothers and sisters, or you will be judged. For look—the Judge is standing at the door!
REASONS WE DON’T HAVE PATIENCE
- Our expectations are too high or unrealistic.
- Our reality doesn’t allow for anything less than Mach One speeds.
We can have patience when it’s hard because….
- God is at work.
Romans 8:28 And we know that God causes everything to work together[a] for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.
- God’s timing is best.
Romans 5:3-4 We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. 4 And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation.
