Where can we find truth? Who determines it? Is truth able to be understood at all? Can my truth be different from yours? Where does God fit into all of this? If He really wanted to make my life better, why does it seem like the Bible has so many rules? This week we’re talking about why God gave us the Bible to live by and how it can impact your life.

MESSAGE NOTES

58% of adults in America believe that moral truth (right and wrong) is up to the
individual.

– What’s true for you might not be true for me.
– The interesting thing is that statistic doesn’t change for followers of Jesus in
America.

[John 8:31-32]

“You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” God’s word is truth and there is freedom in his words!

There are 3 things I want you to know about living Biblically Centered that have the
potential to radically transform your life.

1. (While all of us WANT truth) WE NEED ABSOLUTE TRUTH

[Matt. 7:21-27]

“Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock. But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.”

2. Finding truth is easy, but living it is hard.

[James 1:22]

“But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like.

[2 Timothy 3:16-17]

All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true (not relatively true, not sometimes true) and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.

3. A Biblically Centered life moves to action.

[2 Peter 3:9]

“The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.”

DL Moody, one of the greatest evangelists of the 19th century said. “The world has yet to see what God will do with a man fully consecrated to Him. By God’s help, I aim to be that man.”
