Message: What Will Heaven Be Like?

📅 Date: February 9, 2025

The End of the Book Is Not the End of the Story

“Many picture heaven as floating on clouds, playing harps forever—but that’s not what the Bible teaches.”
God’s final plan isn’t just heaven—it’s a New Heaven and a New Earth, a real, physical, perfect world where we’ll live in resurrected bodies, free from sin and suffering.

1️⃣ The Old World Is Replaced with a New One

📖 [Revelation 21:1] “Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the old heaven and the old earth had disappeared.”

  • After the Great White Throne Judgment, God destroys the old, broken world and creates a perfect one.
  • The current world is corrupted by sin, and God has always planned to renew it.
📖 [Romans 8:20-21] “Creation looks forward to the day when it will join God’s children in glorious freedom from death and decay.”
📖 [Isaiah 65:17] “Look! I am creating new heavens and a new earth… Be glad; rejoice forever in my creation!”

Unlike other religions that emphasize escape from the physical world, Christianity promises a renewed, physical world where we live eternally with God in resurrected bodies.

2️⃣ God Dwells With His People—No More Sin or Suffering

📖 [Revelation 21:3-4] “God’s home is now among His people… He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain.”

  • God will be with us—no separation, no distance, just face-to-face communion.
  • All suffering is erased forever—no sickness, grief, or fear.
  • Heaven will feel familiar, like coming home.

C.S. Lewis: “If we find ourselves with a desire that nothing in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that we were made for another world.”

3️⃣ We Will Have Resurrected Bodies & Purpose

📖 [Philippians 3:20-21] “He will take our weak mortal bodies and change them into glorious bodies like His own.”

  • We won’t be floating spirits—we’ll have real, glorified bodies, just like Jesus did after His resurrection.
  • Jesus ate, walked, and talked after rising from the dead—so will we!
  • Heaven will be filled with purpose—worship, work, adventure, relationships, and joy.
📖 [Isaiah 65:21-22] “My people will build houses and live in them; they will plant vineyards and eat their fruit.”

John Newton: “When I get to heaven, I shall see three wonders: The first—many people there I did not expect to see. The second—many I expected to see are missing. The third—the greatest wonder of all—is that I am there!”

4️⃣ The Final Victory—No More Evil, No More Curse

📖 [Revelation 22:3-5] “No longer will there be a curse upon anything… They will see His face, and they will reign forever and ever.”

  • The curse from Genesis 3 is undone—no more pain, toil, or separation from God.
  • We will see God’s face and reign with Him forever.
  • Everything lost in Eden is fully restored.

📖 [Revelation 22:17] “The Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come!’ Let anyone who is thirsty come and drink freely from the water of life.”
