This prayer may be the one that changes your life the most. But for that reason, this one might be the hardest prayer for some of you to pray.

We’ve replaced the unique purpose for which we were created with some watered down, Christian – flavored version of the American dream.

1 Corinthians 7:29-31 But let me say this, dear brothers and sisters: The time that remains is very short. So from now on, those with wives should not focus only on their marriage.³⁰ Those who weep or who rejoice or who buy things should not be absorbed by their weeping or their joy or their possessions. ³¹ Those who use the things of the world should not become attached to them. For this world as we know it will soon pass away.

Don’t focus only on your marriage, your family, making yourself happy etc. We should not be absorbed by these things or the things of this world.

• These things are a threat to what you were created for.

1 John 2:15-17

Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. ¹⁶ For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. ¹⁷ And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever.

• Jesus tells his followers to pray that God would send people
• Then He tells them to get up and go do it.
• They weren’t prepared and didn’t know this was happening but it didn’t matter.
• In the moment, they had to decide what the priority was.

Isaiah 6:8

Then I heard the Lord asking, “Whom should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for us?”

I said, “Here I am. Send me.”
