Most of us have parts of our lives we hope no one ever sees—moments from our past or habits in our present that quietly make us wonder where we really stand with God. Those doubts and regrets can convince us we’re too far gone or too imperfect for God to do anything meaningful with our lives. This message reveals how God moves toward people who feel unqualified or unsure, exposing the lies we believe about ourselves and meeting us right where we feel stuck. You’ll see how He begins changing the parts of our story we’ve almost given up on and why you’re not disqualified from what God wants to do in you.

MESSAGE NOTES

TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH

No One Is Too Far

Big Idea: God’s grace can reach anyone — the hardest to reach (Saul) and the ones who feel like they don’t belong (Cornelius). God confronts, connects, and pushes His people beyond comfort so the gospel can move to the ends of the earth.

Grace Confronts Us Where We Are

[Acts 9:3–4 NLT]
“As he was approaching Damascus on this mission, a light from heaven suddenly shone down around him. He fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, ‘Saul! Saul! Why are you persecuting me?’”

[Acts 10:3–5 NLT]
“One afternoon about three o’clock, he had a vision in which he saw an angel of God coming toward him… ‘Your prayers and gifts to the poor have been received by God as an offering! Now send some men to Joppa, and summon a man named Simon Peter.’”

Key Truths:

  • Saul needed confrontation for rebellion; Cornelius needed confrontation for incomplete faith.

  • God doesn’t start with who we will be — He starts with who we are.

  • God confronts the rebellious and the religious, the moral, and the “almost-there.”

[Psalm 51:17 NLT]
“The sacrifice you desire is a broken spirit. You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God.”

Memorable:

  • “God doesn’t avoid people like that — He recruits toward them.”

  • “God says to Saul, you’re not even close. God says to Cornelius, you’re close… but not there yet.”

Grace Connects Us Into Community

[Acts 9:17 NLT]
“So Ananias went and found Saul… ‘Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus… has sent me so that you might regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.’”

[Acts 10:24–27 NLT]
“Cornelius was waiting for them and had called together his relatives and close friends… They talked together and went inside, where many others were assembled.”

[Acts 10:34–35 NLT]
“‘I see very clearly that God shows no favoritism. In every nation he accepts those who fear him and do what is right.’”

Highlights:

  • The first word Saul hears from a Christian is “Brother.”

  • Grace brings us into a family — not isolation.

  • Peter’s faith grows because Cornelius’s faith grows.

  • The table God builds includes people who would never sit together otherwise.

[Hebrews 10:25 NLT]
“And let us not neglect our meeting together… but encourage one another…”

Memorable:

  • “Becoming like Jesus is a group project.”

  • “Grace doesn’t just rescue us — it brings us into relationships.”

Grace Pushes Us Outside Our Comfort Zone

[Acts 9:10–14 NLT]
“‘But Lord,’ exclaimed Ananias, ‘I’ve heard many people talk about the terrible things this man has done…’”

[Acts 10:15 NLT]
“‘Do not call something unclean if God has made it clean.’”

[Acts 10:28 NLT]
“‘You know it is against our laws for a Jewish man to enter a Gentile home… But God has shown me that I should no longer think of anyone as impure or unclean.’”

Highlights:

  • Ananias chooses obedience over safety.

  • Peter must step into a Gentile home — something he had never done.

  • Every person in Acts 9–10 is stretched beyond comfort.

Memorable:

  • “Grace refuses to play it safe.”

  • “God pushes His people beyond comfort because that’s where faith grows.”

From Saul and Cornelius to Us

Parallel Truths:

  • God confronts → God connects → God sends.

  • Grace dismantles pride, prejudice, fear, and comfort.

  • God saves the least likely and the most overlooked.

Memorable Lines:

  • “If God can turn an executioner into a preacher, He can do something with you too.”

  • “No one is too far gone — not Saul, not Cornelius, not the person on your mind, and not you.”

Application: Every One Has a Step

If you’re struggling with God:

[James 4:7–8 NLT]
“So humble yourselves before God… Come close to God, and God will come close to you…”

If you’re on the sidelines:

[Hebrews 10:25 NLT]
“And let us not neglect our meeting together…”

If you’re playing it safe:

[Joshua 1:9 NLT]
“This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged…”

Closing Truths:

  • Grace can reach anyone.

  • Grace calls you into community.

  • Grace pushes you toward mission.

  • No one is too far — not then, not now.
