Illustration: YouTube’s Growth

  • Founded in 2005 by three former PayPal employees
  • First video: “Me at the zoo” (18 seconds long)

    • 2.7 billion monthly active users
    • 500 hours of video uploaded every minute
    • 1 billion hours of video watched daily

“YouTube’s growth is a prime example of how empowering others to create and share can lead to exponential impact. Multiplication is key.”

The Origin of Multiplication

[Genesis 1:28] “Then God blessed them and said, ‘Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and govern it. Reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the animals that scurry along the ground.'”

  • Multiplication has been God’s plan from the beginning
  • Divine multiplication is seen throughout creation

[Matthew 13:31-32] “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a mustard seed planted in a field. It is the smallest of all seeds, but it becomes the largest of garden plants; it grows into a tree, and birds come and make nests in its branches.”

“Small beginnings with multiplication create huge opportunities.”

Jesus and Multiplication

  1. Feeding the 5000 (Matthew 14)
  2. Growth of the early church (Acts 2)

What Is Multiplication?

[Matthew 28:19-20] “Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Biblical multiplication:

  1. Select disciples
  2. Train them
  3. Send them out empowered by the Holy Spirit
  4. Repeat

“DEFINITION: Biblical multiplication is the intentional process of growing and expanding the Kingdom of God by making disciples who make more disciples.”

The Parable of the Talents (Matthew 25:14-15)

  • Three servants given different amounts of money
  • Two servants multiply their talents
  • One servant buries his talent out of fear

“A lack of understanding and fear shut him down and kept him from multiplying.”

What Does It Take to Multiply?

  1. Personal Responsibility
    • For ourselves (Health/Maturity)
    • For others (Family/Friends)
    • For the Church
  2. Grace Church Core Values:
    • Biblically Centered
    • Outwardly Focused
    • Radically Generous
    • Personally Involved
    • Intentionally Multiply

“The goal of Grace Church is raising up leaders who are faithful, mature followers of Jesus who make faithful, mature followers of Jesus.”

Application

Next Steps:

  1. Connection to God through Jesus

  5. Serving

For those feeling overwhelmed:

[2 Corinthians 12:9] “Each time he said, ‘My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.’ So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.”
