It would be great if we could be confident in every decision we make. Unfortunately, the reality is that we all struggle with the fear of making the wrong choice and failing and so often, we are just frozen by indecision which can lead us to a life of regret and missing the life God has planned for us. So how can we navigate these times of uncertainty and indecision in a way that pleases God and minimizes regrets? In this video, we’ll see from the Bible how we can lean on God’s guidance and wisdom in these times and how we can develop the courage to move forward even when the path ahead seems unclear.

MESSAGE NOTES

[Proverbs 14:12 NLT]

There is a path before each person that seems right, but it ends in death.

[Deuteronomy 34:1, 4 NLT]

Then Moses went up to Mount Nebo from the plains of Moab and climbed Pisgah Peak, which is across from Jericho. And the LORD showed him the whole land, from Gilead as far as Dan; … 4 Then the LORD said to Moses, “This is the land I promised on oath to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob when I said, ‘I will give it to your descendants.’ I have now allowed you to see it with your own eyes, but you will not enter the land.”

[Joshua 1:1, 6-9 NLT]

After the death of Moses the LORD’s servant, the LORD spoke to Joshua son of Nun, Moses’ assistant. He said, … 6 “Be strong and courageous, for you are the one who will lead these people to possess all the land I swore to their ancestors I would give them. 7 Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the instructions Moses gave you. Do not deviate from them, turning either to the right or to the left. Then you will be successful in everything you do. 8 Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do. 9 This is my command–be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”

FIRST PRINCIPLE: God is With You Wherever You Go

[Joshua 1:5 (NLT)]

“No one will be able to stand against you as long as you live. For I will be with you as I was with Moses. I will not fail you or abandon you.”

[Isaiah 41:10 NLT]

Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.

[Hebrews 13:5 (NLT)]

“Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, ‘I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.’”

[John 14:23 NLT]

Jesus replied, “All who love me will do what I say. My Father will love them, and we will come and make our home with each of them.

[James 4:8 NLT]

Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world.

SECOND PRINCIPLE: God Blesses Your Obedience

[Joshua 1:7-8 (NLT)]

“Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the instructions Moses gave you. Do not deviate from them, turning either to the right or to the left. Then you will be successful in everything you do. 8 Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.”

[Joshua 6:20 (NLT)]

“When the people heard the sound of the rams’ horns, they shouted as loud as they could. Suddenly, the walls of Jericho collapsed, and the Israelites charged straight into the town and captured it.”

[Joshua 7:1 (NLT)]

“But Israel violated the instructions about the things set apart for the Lord. A man named Achan had stolen some of these dedicated things, so the Lord was very angry with the Israelites. Achan was the son of Carmi, a descendant of Zimri son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah.”

[Joshua 8:1 (NLT)]

“Then the Lord said to Joshua, ‘Do not be afraid or discouraged. Take all your fighting men and attack Ai, for I have given you the king of Ai, his people, his town, and his land.’”

[James 1:25 (NLT)]

“But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.”

THIRD PRINCIPLE: God Works It Out

[Deuteronomy 9:5 NLT]

It is not because you are so good or have such integrity that you are about to occupy their land. The LORD your God will drive these nations out ahead of you only because of their wickedness, and to fulfill the oath he swore to your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

[Joshua 24:1-3 NLT]

Then Joshua summoned all the tribes of Israel to Shechem, including their elders, leaders, judges, and officers. So they came and presented themselves to God. 2 Joshua said to the people, “This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: Long ago your ancestors, including Terah, the father of Abraham and Nahor, lived beyond the Euphrates River, and they worshiped other gods. 3 But I took your ancestor Abraham from the land beyond the Euphrates and led him into the land of Canaan. I gave him many descendants through his son Isaac.

[Joshua 24:14-15 NLT]

“So fear the LORD and serve him wholeheartedly. Put away forever the idols your ancestors worshiped when they lived beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt. Serve the LORD alone. 15 But if you refuse to serve the LORD, then choose today whom you will serve. Would you prefer the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates? Or will it be the gods of the Amorites in whose land you now live? But as for me and my family, we will serve the LORD.”
