BUILT DIFFERENT

Intentionally Multiplying

May 11, 2025

Big Idea: God doesn’t just want to grow something in you — He wants to grow something through you.

Key Points:

Disciples Multiply Disciples

  • Jesus never intended for discipleship to stop with the disciple.
  • If your faith ends with you, it ends too soon.
  • Multiplication isn’t just about leadership — it’s about obedience.
  • Every believer is called to pass on what they’ve received.

[Matthew 4:19] “Jesus called out to them, ‘Come, follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people.'”

[Matthew 28:19-20] “Go and make disciples… teaching them to obey…”

“You’re not truly following Jesus if you’re not helping someone else follow Him.”

  • Jesus’ model of discipleship was never informational – it was relational.
  • His call was not just to share knowledge, but to reproduce obedience.

[2 Timothy 2:2] “Teach these truths to other trustworthy people who will be able to pass them on to others.”

Leaders Multiply Leaders

  • Spiritual leadership isn’t about being the most gifted in the room.
  • It’s seeing people around you as a stewardship.
  • Multiplication begins when you realize that your growth isn’t just for your benefit — it’s for others.

“The mission of God was never supposed to be a solo marathon but more like a relay race.”

  • The biblical pattern of leadership has always included intentional succession.
  • From Moses to Joshua, Paul to Timothy
  • God raises up leaders, to pour into future leaders.

[Ephesians 4:11-12] “Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do His work and build up the church…”

[Exodus 18:21] “Select from all the people some capable, honest men… appoint them as leaders over groups…”

“Leadership isn’t about being needed — it’s about being reproducible.”

Churches Multiply Churches

  • The early church took over Rome without steeples or PR firms.
  • They spread throughout the empire by sending people out.

[Acts 13:2-3] “Set apart Barnabas and Saul for the work…” So after fasting and prayer, they laid hands on them and sent them out.”

  • Churches are healthiest when they reproduce.
  • The church doesn’t exist to grow bigger – it exists to go further.

[Acts 16:5] “So the churches were strengthened in their faith and grew larger every day.”

“We measure health not by seating capacity but by sending capacity.”

How Do I Live a Life That Outlives Me?

  • A life that doesn’t end with what you built, but who you built into.
  • That’s what it means to be intentionally multiplying.

Next Steps:

  • Who are you talking to about your faith?
  • Which friend are you including on your ministry team?
  • Where are you helping build the church beyond yourself?
  • How is your life advancing the Kingdom of God?
