This week in our Life Hack series, we are talking about the #1 thing that causes divorce in this country. It’s also the biggest reasons why we lose sleep, have arguments, and end up stressed out – it’s our money and debt. Money can make even the most sane people go nuts. We trade the majority of our waking hours every week for our money which is one reason why we hold onto it so tightly. Pastor Sean explores what the book of Proverbs says about wealth and poverty and gives us 4 steps that anyone can take towards experiencing financial freedom.

6 Signs You Are Financially Unhealthy

  1. You don’t know how much you actually owe.
  2. You only pay the minimum amount on credit cards
  3. I miss payments or bounce checks
  4. I use credit card debt to pay for basic needs
  5. My debt is slowly growing
  6. I’m a follower of Jesus but I’m not giving back to Him.

2 Reasons You Need Financial Freedom

  1. It Keeps You From Disaster

Proverbs 10:15 – The wealth of the rich is their fortress;
    the poverty of the poor is their destruction.

2. It Allows You The Margin For Generosity

Proverbs 11:25 – The generous will prosper;
    those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.

4 Steps To Financial Freedom

  1. Stop Making it Worse

James 1:23-24 – For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. 24 You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like

2. Spend less than you make

Proverbs 21:20 – The wise have wealth and luxury,
    but fools spend whatever they get.

3. Give God His, right off the top

4. Start setting aside something for savings right now.

Proverbs 13:11 – Wealth from get-rich-quick schemes quickly disappears;
    wealth from hard work grows over time.
