There are seasons of life where it feels like we are in a wilderness. We feel empty, dry, and a little like we’re wandering through life. It’s not fun! Nobody likes the wilderness! It’s difficult, it’s frustrating, and often we’re left asking God, where are you, and why are you letting this happen right now? In this video, Pastor Sean Sears talks about what to do when you find yourself in this place, and what God might want to do in this season even though you are wanting to get out of it.

MESSAGE NOTES

Every one of us will find ourselves in a wilderness at some point. The wilderness may look different to each of us but will probably feel the same to all of us.

Your PERSPECTIVE of your wilderness experience will determine the VALUE of your wilderness experience

Henri Nouwen, “Solitude is the place of the great struggle and the great Encounter.”

  1. JESUS WAS LED INTO THE WILDERNESS

[Matthew 4:1-11]

“Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted there by the devil.

  • We should probably pause real quick to acknowledge that sometimes God is the one who is leading us into a dry season

2. JESUS WAS PREPARED IN THE WILDERNESS

[Hebrews 4:15]

says that Jesus was tempted in all points like we are so that he can empathize with you.

[‭‭1 John 2:16]

“For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world.”

Henri Nouwen, “Solitude is the furnace in which transformation takes place.”

[Ephesians 4:23-24]

“Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy.”
