KNEE TO KNEE

You Were Made on Purpose

Big Idea: You are not a cosmic accident. You were created by design – intentionally, with love, by a God who doesn’t make mistakes.

Key Points:

You Were Created By Design

  • You are not a cosmic accident or the random accumulation of genetic mutations.
  • You were formed by the hands of a God who knew exactly what He was doing.

[Genesis 1:26-27] “Then God said, ‘Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us…’ So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.”

  • Your identity isn’t earned, it’s embedded. You were born carrying the image of God.
  • God made you male or female on purpose. That wasn’t a cultural construct – it was a divine decision.

[Isaiah 64:8] “And yet, O Lord, you are our Father. We are the clay, and you are the potter. We all are formed by your hand.”

[Ephesians 2:10] “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”

“God is not obligated to affirm your self-made identity; He lovingly calls you back to the design He gave you.”

Culture Is Loud, But Unclear

  • Culture now makes a distinction between sex and gender, but this isn’t how nature works.
  • Absolutes exist everywhere in nature – why would we believe identity is the one part of human life with no structure, no truth, and no design?

“When you remove structure and design from humanity, you force people to carry a weight their soul was never meant to bear.”

Biblical Response:

  1. Scripture doesn’t separate sex and gender

[Psalm 139:13-14] “You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex!”

  • Your complexity is not a flaw – it’s evidence of thoughtful design.
  1. God doesn’t just make bodies – He designs whole persons

[Proverbs 3:5-6] “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding…”

  • Depending on your own understanding leads to confusion.
  • Trusting God’s design leads to clarity, purpose, and peace.
  1. Identity is not self-created – it’s God-given

[Colossians 3:10] “Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him.”

[John 8:32] “And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

  • Real freedom isn’t found in self-expression in opposition to truth, it’s found in surrender to truth.

You Can Be Made New

[2 Corinthians 5:17] “Anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!”

  • You are not too far gone to be made new. Your past does not determine your future.
  • Jesus doesn’t improve you – He transforms you.

[Romans 12:2] “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think…”

  • Transformation begins when you stop letting the world define you and start letting God’s Word reshape you.
  • You don’t change by trying harder. You change by thinking differently.

“This isn’t just a software update. It’s a full operating system replacement.”

Next Steps:

Ask Yourself:

  • Where have I been trying to define myself apart from God?
  • What lies have I believed about who I am and how I should live?
  • Do I trust that God made me on purpose – even if I don’t always feel it?

“You are not a mistake. You are not forgotten. You were made on purpose – by a God who still wants you.”
