Life can often feel overwhelming with the number of decisions and choices we have to make. Choices that will inevitably lead us somewhere, but not always in the direction that God would have us go. But with so many opportunities and paths to take, it can be a struggle to know which is the right one. In this video, we continue our series Roadmap where we are exploring a powerful story from the book of Exodus that reveals how God’s love and faithfulness can guide us through life’s most difficult moments. As we see the Israelites’ struggle between trusting God or their own reason, we’ll uncover valuable insights that can help us trust God more deeply and choose the right paths in our own lives which can bring us closer to His perfect plan and purpose for us.

MESSAGE NOTES

[Exodus 16:2-4 NLT]

There, too, the whole community of Israel complained about Moses and Aaron. 3 “If only the LORD had killed us back in Egypt,” they moaned. “There we sat around pots filled with meat and ate all the bread we wanted. But now you have brought us into this wilderness to starve us all to death.” 4 Then the LORD said to Moses, “Look, I’m going to rain down food from heaven for you. Each day the people can go out and pick up as much food as they need for that day. I will test them in this to see whether or not they will follow my instructions.

GOD’S PROVISION EXCEEDS OUR NEEDS

[Psalm 34:8-10 NLT]

Taste and see that the LORD is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him! 9 Fear the LORD, you his godly people, for those who fear him will have all they need. 10 Even strong young lions sometimes go hungry, but those who trust in the LORD will lack no good thing.

[Exodus 17:5-6 NLT]

The LORD said to Moses, “Walk out in front of the people. Take your staff, the one you used when you struck the water of the Nile, and call some of the elders of Israel to join you. 6 I will stand before you on the rock at Mount Sinai. Strike the rock, and water will come gushing out. Then the people will be able to drink.” So Moses struck the rock as he was told, and water gushed out as the elders looked on.

[1 Corinthians 10:1-4 NLT]

I don’t want you to forget, dear brothers and sisters, about our ancestors in the wilderness long ago. All of them were guided by a cloud that moved ahead of them, and all of them walked through the sea on dry ground. 2 In the cloud and in the sea, all of them were baptized as followers of Moses. 3 All of them ate the same spiritual food, 4 and all of them drank the same spiritual water. For they drank from the spiritual rock that traveled with them, and that rock was Christ.

[Matthew 7:11 NLT]

So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him.2.

GOD’S PROTECTION SURROUNDS US AT ALL TIMES

[Exodus 19:1-2 NLT]

Exactly two months after the Israelites left Egypt, they arrived in the wilderness of Sinai. 2 After breaking camp at Rephidim, they came to the wilderness of Sinai and set up camp there at the base of Mount Sinai.

[Exodus 19:4-6 NLT]

‘You have seen what I did to the Egyptians. You know how I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself. 5 Now if you will obey me and keep my covenant, you will be my own special treasure from among all the peoples on earth; for all the earth belongs to me. 6 And you will be my kingdom of priests, my holy nation.’ This is the message you must give to the people of Israel.”

[Exodus 20:18-20 NLT]

When the people heard the thunder and the loud blast of the ram’s horn, and when they saw the flashes of lightning and the smoke billowing from the mountain, they stood at a distance, trembling with fear. 19 And they said to Moses, “You speak to us, and we will listen. But don’t let God speak directly to us, or we will die!” 20 “Don’t be afraid,” Moses answered them, “for God has come in this way to test you, and so that your fear of him will keep you from sinning!”

[Isaiah 41:10 NLT]

Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.

[Romans 8:31 NLT]

What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us?3.

GOD’S GUIDANCE IS FOR DAILY LIVING

[Mark 2:27 NLT]

Then Jesus said to them, “The Sabbath was made to meet the needs of people, and not people to meet the requirements of the Sabbath.

[Romans 14:5-6 NLT]

In the same way, some think one day is more holy than another day, while others think every day is alike. You should each be fully convinced that whichever day you choose is acceptable. 6 Those who worship the Lord on a special day do it to honor him. Those who eat any kind of food do so to honor the Lord, since they give thanks to God before eating. And those who refuse to eat certain foods also want to please the Lord and give thanks to God.

[Galatians 3:24-29 NLT]

Let me put it another way. The law was our guardian until Christ came; it protected us until we could be made right with God through faith. 25 And now that the way of faith has come, we no longer need the law as our guardian. 26 For you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 27 And all who have been united with Christ in baptism have put on Christ, like putting on new clothes. 28 There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male and female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And now that you belong to Christ, you are the true children of Abraham. You are his heirs, and God’s promise to Abraham belongs to you.
