Everyone wonders how a good God can let evil exist in the world, but when we remember that there is evil in our own hearts, we want a pass. We want God to judge everyone else, but not judge us for the wrong we’ve done. In the fifth week of our series The End, God has been patient for long enough and the judgement is here. Pastor Sean talks about the end of everything that we see as we know it and what changes we can begin making in our lives now in light of this day coming in the future.

MESSAGE NOTES

Most cultures have had some form of Apocalyptic narrative.

In today’s teaching, we come to the description of the end of all that we see. Not the end of everything though that’s next week.

Revelation 20:1-3 – Satan is bound in the bottomless pit for 1,000 years.

  • The bottomless pit is otherwise knows as the “abyss” (Luke 8:31).
  • 2 Peter 2:4-9, fallen angels in hell waiting for final judgement.
  • Hell is punishment for demons until final judgement
  • Matthew 25:41 – Hell was created for Satan and demons

  • Luke 16:19-31 – Rich man and Lazarus.
  • Real story (uses name; even if parable, not rooted in fiction)
  • No one in hell believes they are there unfairly.
  • All they want is for no one else they love to join them.
  • No one gets special “proof”. They get the prophets and then Jesus resurrection. That’s it.

Revelation 20:4-6 – Millennial Reign

  • Jesus said his disciples would reign with him (Luke 22:29-30).
  • Jewish scriptures talk about this period of time.
  • Micah 4:1-4
  • Isaiah 11:6-9

Revelation 20:7-10

  • Satan is loosed and gathers an army
  • Where did they come from?
  • Those lived through the time of Judgement
  • Jesus said in Matthew 22 that no marriage in Heaven

  • Ezekiel 38:1-8 – A long time from now the armies from Gog and Magog will come against the unwalled cities of Israel and be destroyed.

  • Revelation 20:11-15

This when everyone else is resurrected for judgement.

  • Daniel 12:1-3 – After a time of anguish “greater than any since nations first came into existence”, resurrected for judgement.
  • What is the deed that saves? (John 6:29 “believe the One he sent”.
  • Matthew 25:31-46 – Sheep and Goats
  • Romans 13:8, 11-12 – Focus on those apart from faith. LOVE them! Remove your dirty clothes and put on right living because our time is running out.

APPLICATION:

  • If you’re disconnected from God, wondering why the evil in the world…2 Peter 3:9 says that God is simply waiting on you to repent of the evil in your own heart.
  • If you’re a follower of Jesus wasting the time we’ve got, STOP! Focus your life on loving people far from God. Live like Jesus and allow them to get close to you, so they will get a chance to see Him in yoU! So they will get a chance to find hope also!
