How do you think your life would look differently if you began to have regular, personal communication with God? Now this isn’t the same thing as telling others our thoughts and prayers are with them. I’m talking about real, genuine, heart to heart talks with God about your decisions, your circumstances, your hurt, your joy, and your desires. In the last week of this series, Pastor Sean talks about how a God’s desire for your prayer life is never to stop, but rather you hit the pause button on the conversation. In this teaching, we also learn 3 things that a healthy prayer life is and how we can begin to apply this habit of prayer to our lives.

MESSAGE NOTES

2 verses on Prayer that sets the bar pretty high for us.

  • Ephesians 6:18 “pray in the spirit at all times and on every occasion.”
  • 1 Thessalonians 5:17  “Never stops praying.”

  • How in the world am I supposed to do that?
  • Jesus didn’t even pray every second of every day, neither did the disciples.
  • Point: we don’t just pray in church or when we go to bed at night.

This isn’t “our thoughts and prayers are with you” but a constant prayer life.

  • Philippians 1:3-5,9.
  • Colossians 1:3,9,11-12
  • 1 Thessalonians 1:2-3, 8, 13

But even these kinds of prayers need to come fro your heart not a book.

  • 1 Timothy 1:12-16
  • 2 Timothy 1:3, 8, 13

You never end your conversation with God, you just hit pause.

  • I never stop loving my wife and kids, even when I’m not with them
  • Truth: they randomly come up in thoughts and decisions all day.

A Healthy Prayer Life Begins With A Schedule

  • Mark 1:35-37
  • Daniel 6:10
  • Driving to work is my morning time
  • Prayer walks in the evening
  • Every night when we go to bed

A Healthy Prayer Life Is Spontaneous

  • Triggers that prompt prayer
  • James 5:13
  • 2 Timothy 1:7
  • 1 Thessalonians 5:18
  • James 1:6

A Healthy Prayer Life Is Shared

  • Acts 1:14, 2:42, 12:2, 2 Cor 1:11
  • Matthew 18:19-20 two or three pray in agreement, I move.

APPLICATION:

  • Who can you ask to pray with you?
  • When will you schedule time to pray?
  • What triggers will you use to remind you to pray?

Imagine how our lives would change if we began talking to and hearing from God on a regular basis.
