Many of us have complicated relationships with God. We view as distant or detached from our lives. We might see Him as a the judge of all wrong and pouring out punishment on those who do wrong. What if our complicated relationship with God stems from incorrect information about who He really is? This week, we see 3 different characteristics of God that can completely shift what we thought we knew about God.

MESSAGE NOTES

God WANTS to be known by you!

[2 Corinthians 13:14]

“May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.”

If there was one thing you knew about him it is that He is Love

[Romans 8:38]

“And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

  1. GOD IS LOVE

[Psalm 139:1-10, 17-1]

“O Lord, you have examined my heart and know everything about me. You know when I sit down or stand up. You know my thoughts even when I’m far away. You see me when I travel and when I rest at home. You know everything I do. You know what I am going to say even before I say it, Lord. You go before me and follow me. You place your hand of blessing on my head. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too great for me to understand! I can never escape from your Spirit! I can never get away from your presence! If I go up to heaven, you are there; if I go down to the grave, you are there. If I ride the wings of the morning, if I dwell by the farthest oceans, even there your hand will guide me, and your strength will support me… How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered! I can’t even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand! And when I wake up, you are still with me!”

You need to know this, God knows every little thing about you (the good and the bad) and loves you deeply.

2. GOD IS SOVEREIGN

[Romans 8:28-30]

“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And having chosen them, he called them to come to him. And having called them, he gave them right standing with himself. And having given them right standing, he gave them his glory.”

[Genesis 50:20]

“You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people.”

  • Why is it that during the most uncertain time in recent history, the Church lost its mind like everyone else???
  • This is our moment to shine!
  • [Psalm 139:4-5] “You know what I am going to say even before I say it, Lord. You go before me and follow me. You place your hand of blessing on my head.”

THAT is why we pray different prayers than any other religion ever prayed.

GOD IS FATHER

[Matthew 6:19-20]

“Pray like this: Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.”

  • God doesn’t want you to pray with fear, intimidation or caution
  • He wants you to talk to him as your FATHER, who loves you and has all authority in Heaven and on Earth
  • Quit praying weenie, pathetic, pitiful prayers!

God hasn’t lost track of the world OR you IN IT. He’s got this. Pray like it!
