The Bible says that God has created us all with a purpose in mind and has a preferred life for us to live. But how do we know what that life is? How do we know if we are making the right decisions or if we are living out our purpose?

MESSAGE NOTES

There are plenty of things that Jesus did, that we’ll never be able to do.

In this series we’re going to look at the things He did, that we CAN do.

  1. JESUS DID THE WILL OF GOD

We talk about this often but God is the one who came up with the idea of you

You will live your most fulfilled life when you discover how to use your gifts for His Kingdom purposes in the world!

[Matthew 5:17]

“Don’t misunderstand why I have come. I did not come to abolish the law of Moses or the writings of the prophets. No, I came to accomplish their purpose.”

  1. Jesus was clear on why he was here
  2. He was committed to keeping the “law and the prophets”
  3. He KNEW what the Bible said

Jesus didn’t create his own path.

[John 6:38]

“For I have come down from heaven to do the will of God who sent me, not to do my own will.”

What if I told you that God had a plan for your life too?

[Ephesians 2:10]

“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”

You’re not a side thought, a cog in a wheel of humanity, one number out of 7B. You are a work of art, except that you aren’t the artist. You are the canvas on which God is trying to do his best work.

How do we know what God is wanting us to do?

WE DO THE WILL OF GOD WHEN WE OBEY THE WORD OF GOD

You can’t know the will of God if you don’t read the Word of God.

[James 1:22-25]

“But don’t just listen to God’s. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.”

[Psalm 138:2]

“I bow before you holy temple as I worship. I praise your name for your unfailing love and faithfulness; for your promises are backed by all the honor of your name.”

You can not separate who God is, from what he’s said. If you want to know God, you must know his Word. If you want to know His will, you must do what he says.

“Every word of God proves true. He is a shield to all who come to him for protection.”

[Proverbs 30:5]

I’m asking you to submit yourself to the word of God and become biblically centered – in EVERY area of life.

  • Submit your politics to the Word of God
  • Submit your identity to the Word of God
  • Submit your finances to the Word of God
  • Submit your sexuality, your work ethic, personal habits, online activity, your past, you pain, your hopes and your dreams to the Word of God
  • It’s the only way you’ll discover the purpose for which you were born
  • It’s the only way you will fully experience every amazing thing God has planned for you.
