We can often forget and get distracted a from the life God intended for us to live. Isn’t it easy to live life distracted and before we realize it, months have gone by? Maybe you’ve realized that the things you say are important to you, aren’t reflected in the way you spend your time. Well what if there’s a possible that you are living your life distracted from the one thing that God intended your entire life to revolve around? Would you want to know? Maybe the better questions would be, if you did find out what that one thing is, would you care enough to rearrange your life around that one thing? In the last week of our series At The Movies, we take a look at what this “one thing” is and help you measure the importance that this has in your life as you seek to follow after Jesus.

God has an exciting story for your life. Over the past few weeks, we have
been talking about what to do when your story takes an expected turn. When life gets
uneventful. When God calls you to do something that is uncertain. When God’s plan for your
life doesn’t make sense to the people around you. And when it’s inconvenient.

What if God called you to inconvenience your entire life to bring rescue to one person? To one friend who is completely disconnected from God?

Tax collectors and other notorious sinners often came to listen to Jesus teach.   2  This made
the Pharisees and teachers of religious law complain that he was associating with such
sinful people – even eating with them! [Luke 15:1-2]

Jesus lived his life in such a way that drew spiritually disconnected people to him. His life
was attractive to the non-religious people around him.

3  So Jesus told them this story:  4  “If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them gets lost,
what will he do? Won’t he leave the ninety-nine others in the wilderness and go to search
for the one that is lost until he finds it?

Every person is priceless to God. He’ll never stop chasing after the lost sheep.

5  And when he has found it, he will joyfully carry it home on his shoulders.  6  When he arrives, he will call together his friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Rejoice with me because I have found my lost sheep.’

God’s plan for your life means putting their needs above your convenience.

Most of us live convenient and comfortable lives. We make decisions that require no faith
because we could do everything on our own whether or not God showed up. But God is
always nudging us away from comfort and away from selfishness. He is trying to show us
that he can do something so much more significant with our stories, but it requires us
putting our convenience to the side.

7  In the same way, there is more joy in heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns
to God than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven’t strayed away! [Luke15:7]

How can you live a more inconvenient life?
Who around you needs to be rescued?
What might God be putting on your heart right now?
