Margin is the key ingredient to living your life generously. 

The Bible has a lot to say about the measure of success but it has less to do with what you get and more to do with what you give.

BE GENEROUS IN ACTION 

[Matthew 7:12] 

“Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets.” 

Doing good to people isn’t on anyone’s agenda for the day and it doesn’t just happen reactively. It must be intentional. 

[1 Peter 2:12] 

“Be careful to live properly among your unbelieving neighbors. Then even if they accuse you of doing wrong, they will see your honorable behavior, and they will give honor to God when he judges the world.” 

BE GENEROUS IN RELATIONSHIPS 

[John 13:34-35] 

“So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.” 

BE GENEROUS IN GIVING 

[2 Corinthians 9:6-11] 

“6 Remember this—a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop. 7 You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.” 8 And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others. 9 As the Scriptures say, “They share freely and give generously to the poor. Their good deeds will be remembered forever.” 10 For God is the one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, he will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity in you. 11 Yes, you will be enriched in every way so that you can always be generous. And when we take your gifts to those who need them, they will thank God.” 

[1 Corinthians 3:12-14] 

“Anyone who builds on that foundation may use a variety of materials—gold, silver, jewels, wood, hay, or straw. But on the judgment day, fire will reveal what kind of work each builder has done. The fire will show if a person’s work has any value. If the work survives, that builder will receive a reward.”
